2019: Homecoming

Watching the Christmas video (at left) of my two bachelors, Janrico and Ricky, the younger and the youngest, amongst my five kids, was a touching moment. Really, it is.

We planned for a reunion in Christmas 2017 but was aborted.

Last Sunday, I did not forsake the assembling of one another with fellow believers and found the Bread of Life Gellert Blvd Daly City. Supposedly, I was to join my eldest of sons, Rix with his wife Wella in JIL Hayward-Union City but they were already going when i woke up while Carlouie was bound to JIL Daly City.

That Sunday was God’s design.

The pastor, a 26 years old sweet lady preached about deppression. She was talking about things i have been saying and writing, things i share in my peer counselling, things i know very well but i have not been doing for myself. As if, God was whispering, “Ricardo, you know what to do, the problem is that you’re not doing.” The sweet lady pastor is God sent. Or, shall i say, God brought me to her God entrusted church to listen and be reminded. My going there, walking for 15 minutes or more via my GPS was an easy walk for the road was going way down, an easy step by step finding the place. I found the church gathering place 30 minutes earlier before service.

Yes, I was in depression. Perhaps, this is why i was quick to feel another pastor friend was too in being depressed then. He refused to accept when we talk but in his FB posting about pastors being depressed, i read his insert whch says, “I was there.” The first step of surrendering is admitting.

I miss those days of pastoring a God entrusted Church, running a school as operations director, hosting a two-hour morning radio program, column writing for weekly newspapers, managing and leading a financial services branch, civic clubs, all in daily basis multitasking activities back there in the Phiippines with the pleasure of being on top of the every and all situations.

2019 Homecoming at Christmas time may be a wonderful day of reunion for the family. The chairs will no longer be vacant or be filled with mere pictures. Rather, it will be hugging and embracing opportunities with singings or praise and worship songs to the Lord all together with the whole family with each respective own families. Will there be wedding bells as well for either of the bachelors?

Homecoming, however, does not always refer to a location for it may be a state of being. 2019 is another Year Of The Lord that God has made. America is now my home, it is now where I dream, the American dream, my mission field.

Are you missing those days for God’s sake or for your own’s sake? Is putting God first still the first priority?

Isaiah 43:18-19 ESV, “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing, now it springs froth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

Bear in mind, always, that the formula for all of these things is: “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all of these things shall be added unto you” Matthew 6:33.

Os Hillman says, “there is no secular and sacred division, no work life and faith life separation. In God’s eyes, the work you do is a ministry unto the Lord.

Hence, let Christ be seen in you and me even at our workplace whatever or wherever our work is. Psalm 90:17 NIV, “May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us, yes; establish the work of our hands.”

What’s In a Name? A rose by any name smells like a rose (Shakespeare). What matters to the Lord is your performance delivery for His glory even if you are not at a “full-time Christian service(?)” as if those not working for churches or Christian organizations are only part-time in the service of Christ.

2019 homecoming is being full time with the Lord as God’s people called in His Name. .Being full-time with the Lord is having the Word of Christ in everyday and every minute of our life whether in the marketplace or your workplace. Abide in His words and His words will abide in you.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-24). Because of the steadfast of the Lord, we are not cut off.

The Church service ended with lunch for all and a separate groupings, not as friends but as brethren to talk and understand more the God’s message delivered through the assigned pastor, thereby, finding each self in the message.

I went home, again walking but this time the road is going up there challenging my legs and hips endurance. Brothers and Sisters, Family and Friends, Going up is tough and going out there in school place if you’re a student or a teacher, in the marketplace or workplace is tougher. “The NT records that Christ Jesus appeared publicly 132 times and 122 were in the marketplace. Jesus told 52 parables and 45 had a workplace context. Jesus called 12 workplace individuals, not clergy, to build His Church.”

LESSON: Stop being dependent to anybody you expect to depend upon. People Forgets. Stop living in accordance to the validity or nod of other people. It is your own life. The success of yesterday is past. Tomorrow it is a forgotten history to man but not to God. Are you serving God or are you serving man or Are you Serving yourself??? Kill your emotions and Fix your eyes unto the Lord.

Happy 2019 Homecoming. See you at the workplace.
