How To Deal With a Toxic Leader Of a Blessed Country?

Matthew 12:25, “And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand”
The Filipino “we the people” majority continue to support the Duterte leadership. He was 88% before his “stupid god” statement and it goes down a little but still above 75%. British’ Stephen Sackur of the BBC’s Hardtalk even said that in developed countries with given identities, a 75% approval rating will make a politician very happy.
The PHIIPPINES IS SUPPOSED TO BE BLESSED. But look what is happening. When the old man Marcos already has placed the Philippines as second to Japan in Asia both in economy and military who was even ready to go against China in its fight against communism then, and allegedly was on its way to a developed country as my country of birth has started buying properties in the name of the Philippines in Wall Street and properties such as FilOil (now Petron), SMB, PAL, Philippine National Steel Corp., Philippine Coconut Bank (managing the Philippine Coconut Industry), and etc which are no longer occupying my mind, we started the Edsa Revolution. I said, we, because I was there, among the fools.
WE ARE DOUBLE BLESSED! First Blessings: I may not be accurate on the exact years (I don’t have researchers) but am sure. God blessed the Philippines when then Pres. Manuel Luis Molina Quezon opened doors to thousands of Israelites or Jews who were being persecuted by the Nazis of Germany. The Word of God, says, “I will bless those who bless you (referring to Jews) and I will curse those who curse you” (Genesis 12:3) “And in you, all of the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Second Blessings: In 1948, when Israel as a country was aiming to be recognized as a nation, the Muslim countries made a campaign against the plan. So, when the votation came, it was a tie. It so happened that during that time that the UN Secretary General was the little big man from the Philippines, Carlos P. Romulo. He broke the tie in favor of God’s people, the Jews of Israel. So there goes the story.
WHY ARE WE ‘SEEMINGLY’ NOT BLESSED?
We believe so much on ourselves. We can never have a perfect wife, a perfect church, a perfect friend, a perfect employer. And we too CAN NEVER HAVE A PERFECT GOVERNMENT.
Lee Kwan Yew said, “The Philippines have so much democracy but so little of Discipline.” “In a developing nation, some freedoms had to be sacrificed.”
“Like Israel, we had to leapfrog the rest of the region, and attract multinational companies”
So, Lee Kwan Yew built good relationship with China, but Singapore never become a communist under China.
Romans 13:1-2, NIV “Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.”
We are destroying ourselves and country with PRIDE. As if it is us the we the people who can solve the problem, forgetting that we have a God who promises to His people who are called by His Name that He will never leave or abandon us. We focus on the other person or persons or the government need to change, as if, it is us, who draws men to God. “Vengeance is Mine, says, God, did He?
God is wanting everyone to be healed. He is waiting to transform the lives of everyone that leaks nuclear emotions and throwing verbal grenades. The controller, the abuser, and the too-easily angered are not immune to the power of God’s Word. What is impossible to us the men is possible with God (Luke 1:37, Matthew 10:27). There is hope for the President Duterte, the bully, the addict, and to those who are in the negative gear. The blamer, the gossiper, the arrogant, and the victim are all but natural for we are not God. but if we belong to Him and continue to believe in Him, we can continue to say our piece but have the descerning spirit. Practice, who said so for these people may be much worse when they were there. Or the people or the news outlets are actually a part of their organization.
To Whom Shall We partner, therefore, to God ordained government (even for a while?) or be a part of the demolition team? We already have the Edsa 1, 2, 3 etc. Are we wanting for more? Shall we hold on to God’s promised of blessings? Sarah was impatient and thought she was helping God by her maid to Abraham. Are we too impatient?

  1. Your analysis Pastor Ric is absolutely correct! Only a few has the gift of wisdom to realize those things. Everything has its own perfect timing in accordance to the Lord’s plan and will.
We human beings should submit to our leaders as was commanded by God.

    • Glory to God Brother JP. Yes, in His perfect timing, according to His plan. We just let God be God and surrender all the hate from the two opposing sides. Thanks for the comment. Please continue to be a part of this blog for His glory!

    • Thanks be to God for the enlightenment Jay and Reshel Visperas.
May it enlighten us also that it applies too to a relationship between a husband and wife.
      God bless the Philippines!

    • Thanks for the agreement Ricky.
Democracy is freedom but as Lee Kwan Yew also said, “Freedom is good but too much is abusive.”
Change, actually, should begin with ourselves. A dynamic transformation. A complete surrender o the Lord who transform.
Again, easier said than done. But doable. 2 Corinthians 5:17
